What Season Do More Fires Occur In?

Ace Fire & Security • 21 June 2023

Fire risk is not something that should be forgotten about at any time of the year. It is unpredictable and can be incredibly harmful, leading to damage to property & wildlife, injury and even death.

But what season of the year do more fires occur and why is this the case? Read on to find out more.

Winter

While not the biggest season for fires to occur in, people still need to be wary of fires occurring in the winter. Lots of winter fires are caused by electrical faults, as people usually are running things such as heating and electric blankets to try and stay warm. Also, people are more likely to use fireplaces, which can be dangerous if not monitored correctly.

Summer

The season where most fires occur is typically the summertime. This is usually due to a lack of moisture in the air and plenty of dry materials around. Temperature, rainfall and wind are big factors in the summer. Plenty of people use air conditioning and fans during this season, which could cause fires if there are faults.

Autumn

Autumn faces a few fires due to it representing a wind down from summer. There are still plenty of dry materials around in the form of dead leaves, which begin to fall and die in this period. So while summer is a high risk, people should still be wary of fires in Autumn as temperatures begin to wind down.

Spring

The season where the least fires occur is normally springtime. This is because the temperatures are quite neutral and there is plenty of moisture in the air. However, just like winter, the risk of fire is never zero, so you should always be aware of the risks and take appropriate precautions to combat any fires from happening at your business or home.
