Everything You Need To Know About Intruder Alarms

Ace Fire & Security • 22 February 2023

If you’re looking to protect your property or enhance your home security systems, an intruder alarm (also known as a burglar alarm) can be of crucial benefit. An intruder alarm can strengthen the security of your home, preventing trespassing, and keeping both your family and possessions safe. Read to find out more.

How Do Intruder Alarms Work?

An intruder alarm, fitted in a home security system, consists of a series of electrical components connected to a property. Using sensors and contact points which can be placed around your home, an intruder alarm is able to detect movement and the opening of doors and windows. When these sensors are triggered, the intruder alarm sounds to alert you of an unauthorized entry.

Users can activate or deactivate the intruder alarm by using the home security system control panel, often through a fob, key, or numbered pin.

The Three Types Of Intruder Alarm Systems:

●     Bells-only systems - Where, quite simply, a burglar alarm is triggered.

●     Systems with speech diallers or communicators- these home security systems will send a message to several nominated phone numbers.

●     Monitored systems - Here, signals from the alarm system are sent to a special call centre where they can be acted on through external means.

The Benefits Of An Intruder Alarm

●     An intruder alarm keeps your home, family, and possessions safe.

●     It can also give you peace of mind when you’re away from home.

●     As a home security system, it reduces insurance premiums.

●     If a trespasser attempts to access your property, having an intruder alarm or other home security system installed significantly increases the chance of a criminal being caught.
