The Future Of Fire And Security Systems In Plymouth

Ace Fire and Security Equipment • 22 March 2023

There is no question that technology over the past century has progressed almost beyond recognition. We are now in a world where it is possible to video call a friend on the other side of the world or have your car drive you along the motorway. Technology is always evolving and inventors and companies will always want to progress their industries forward. One of these sectors which has seen significant growth in recent years is, of course, the security sector. In fact, the industry has moved so far forward that soon your everyday lock and key will be a rare sight. So, what is the future of this industry?

The popularity of Access Control Systems

For hundreds of years, the predominant method we have used to access our homes has been the traditional lock and key. Of course, there have been other methods throughout the years but there is no doubt that the lock and key has been a firm favourite. However, we are beginning to see the rise of a new technology which is taking the industry by storm. Access Control Systems don’t use a key. Instead, you use a card or pin code to access the building. Naturally, these systems have many practical benefits and they are now becoming increasingly popular.

Fingerprint technology

When Apple introduced the fingerprint sensor to access your phone in 2013 the technology shook the world. Of course, we had known for some time that the fingerprint was a unique pattern to everyone but to use it to access your phone seemed impossible. Though when Apple first brought it onto the market it was an instant success with most people transferring to the technology. In recent years we will begin to see many access control systems work using fingerprint sensors. So, instead of you plugging in a pin code to access your office you will simply press your thumb over a screen.

Live cameras

There are times when you will need to leave your home for an extended period of time. Perhaps you’re going on holiday or maybe on a small business trip. Either way, you will want to ensure that your home is safe and this can of course be achieved in a number of ways. Though one of the most reliable methods is by using incredibly modern live camera systems. These will show you a live video from inside your home so you can ensure that everything is ship shaped at all times.
