Four Reasons To Install A Home Alarm System

Ace Fire And Security Equipment • 27 October 2021

With over 250,000 domestic burglaries in England and Wales occurring in the year 2020/21 alone, there has never been a more important time to protect your property. Here, we outline some of the key advantages of installing a home alarm system to help protect your home.

1. Deter Criminal Activity

Let’s face it; if you were a criminal, the last thing you’d want is to be caught red-handed. If you were to approach a property, the mere presence of a security system would be enough to at least reconsider. If a criminal spots a security camera, they’re much less likely to go through with the crime. This is why all new builds come with a home security system as standard.

2. Prevent Theft

A home security system is a proven method of preventing theft or criminal activity from happening on your property. With a system in place, your home and valuables stand a much better chance of remaining safe and secure. An alarm system has the capability of contacting the police, should your alarm ring or become compromised. Most modern home security systems even come with a smart device that allows the owner to keep a visual on their property throughout the day. In this instance, if there was to be an intruder, you’d be alerted to their presence immediately.

3. Lower Your Insurance

If your home has a security system in place you’re more likely to receive a reduced rate on your home or property insurance. Insurance companies analyse risk, if the risk of theft or damage is considered too great, your premium will be high. However, should you install a security system, this risk will greatly reduce, sending your premium down.

4. Notice Gas Leaks

Many modern home alarm systems come with built-in fire and carbon monoxide sensors. Potentially the difference between life and death, these sensors will detect a problem, if there is one, and will alert your security system immediately. Once this occurs, the alarm will ring around your property, informing you of a problem and that you must exit the property as soon as possible. At this stage, the alarm will also direct the distress call to the relevant authorities.
